Winslow Community Cinema starts back for the new year on Friday, January 11, with Ken Loach’s The Angels’ Share, at 7.30pm at the Winslow Centre.

The veteran social-realist director and his long-time screenwriting partner Paul Laverty are on top form with this satisfying and understated comedy, in which a rogues’ gallery of Glaswegian miscreants on a community payback scheme discover the joys of whisky.

A kindly supervisor and amateur Scotch connoisseur takes his charges on a trip to a distillery where the reprobates concoct a ‘get rich quick’ plan.
