Community groups given funding boost

Community grants totalling almost £10,000 were handed out at Brackley Town Council’s annual meeting.

Twelve groups applied for funding from the council including Victim Support Northampton £225, 5th Brackley Scout group £500, 5th Brackley Brownies group £125, Brackley Music Festival £900, South Northants Volunteer Bureau £750, Brackley Rugby Football Club £2,000, Brackley Hospital Trust £2,000, Brackley Fringe Festival £1,000, Brackley Soap Box Derby £350, Brackley European Association £350 and Northants Fire and Rescue £500. The council also agreed to grant the Hub £1,000 in staged payments.

Councillors and speakers Northants Police Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds and Insp Andy Hall answered questions on a range of subjects including police budgets, crime levels, special constables, HS2, potholes and street lighting.
