Construction work starts on 2,450 home development at Kingsbrook

Phil Gomm, independent councillor for Aylesbury East joined Barratt Homes project director Clive Bell last week on site to mark the start of the construction work at what is being called Kingsbrook.

Over the next few months much of the ground work and infrastructure will be completed at the site which will enable the foundations for the first new homes to be laid later this spring.

The development will take ten years and be delivered in three phases. As well as the new homes there will also be two new primary schools, a site for a secondary school, community facilities, 25 acres of employment land and Stocklake link road.

The initial work involves the relocation of overhead cables to an underground system from the existing substation east of Broughton Lane to locations north and south of Stocklake Rural Road and east of Oakfield Road.

Mr Bell said: “It’s great to have finally started work at Kingsbrook. It’s a very exciting project which will bring many benefits to the local area, including much needed housing and employment.

“The initial activity will see many of the roads, underground work and infrastructure completed which will enable us to start laying the first bricks for the new homes in a couple of months’ time.”

Cllr Gomm added: ““I am pleased to see Barratt getting started on the construction work for this new local development which has been a long time in planning.

“Throughout this time, we have made a very good communication link with local residents, businesses and other partners in the area with a view to keeping them up to date and deal with any issues that might arise.
