Children from The Cooper School in Bicester will join members of the Bicester and District branch of the Royal British Legion at an act of remembrance tomorrow, Wednesday.

The act of remembrance, at the Commonwealth War Graves in St Laurence Church churchyard, in Caversfield, will be led by Rev Becky Matthew. Attending from the RBL will be Brian Bailey, the event organiser, branch chairman Brian Leach, and David Crabbe the branch secretary. Graham Moore will parade the RAF Standard. It will take place at 11am.

The children will lay a RBL Remembrance cross and a fresh red/pink variegated rose at the head of each military grave.

The Canadian High Commission is expected to be represented by a serving officer who will pay his country’s respects to the members of the Canadian Air Force whose graves are within the Caversfield Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery boundaries.

Mr Bailey said: “This is the second year we have involved the children in this particular act of remembrance and the headmaster of The Cooper School has agreed to adopt this war graves ceremony so this act of remembrance becomes part of the school history teachings and is perpetuated henceforth”.
