When Samantha Whitehead created Natural Pampering in 2012, she had no idea that only three years later her ‘great little business’ would take the title of Best Small Business in The Aylesbury Vale Business Awards.

The farmer’s daughter from Chackmore – who now lives in Steeple Claydon – said: “I was so proud of being nominated in the first place, then getting shortlisted was a wonderfully unexpected surprise. “But to win – wow! I’m ecstatic, and totally honoured by my customers’ support.”

The awards are client-driven and Samantha, 33, confessed she was overwhelmed by their votes and positive comments.

The former nursery nurse suffered from eczema, asthma and hay fever as a child and when she was a teenager started experimenting with her own products.

“I cut out chemicals,” she explained. “All my symptoms disappeared and my health improved dramatically.

“Now I create handmade soaps and luxurious bath and skincare products as well as beeswax candles. But it’s been a long, long journey and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my wonderful family and friends.”

She added: “I’m inspired by the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside where I gain lots of my ideas, helping my parents on their farm and leading a natural life.”
