A well-attended gathering thanked Shirley and David Lafford for their years of dedication to Padbury Village Hall.

The long-serving treasurer and caretaker recently retired fromtheir positions following their move to Buckingham.

For over 25 years, Mrs Lafford has taken on many roles, including key holder, cleaner, treasurer, booking secretary and caretaker, supported by Mr Lafford, who latterly took over caretaking duties.

Both have also been enthusiastic fundraisers, organising regular bingo and whist sessions at the hall, as well as the village 100:1 club, cheese and wine evenings and many other social activities.

They were presented with an engraved silver salver by chairman of the village hall committee, Bill Carmen.
