The Cooper School has been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark (SGQM).
The Bicester-based school is one of only 46 schools selected so far to receive the award, developed by The Geographical Association.
The award process encourages schools to strive for the highest quality in their teaching. All the award winners undergo a rigorous moderation process, and the assessors were impressed by the way in which they are embracing innovative approaches to teaching geography.
Head of geography David Chambers said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this award. This award demonstrates the enthusiasm, creativity and willingness of students and teachers alike, to embrace new ways of teaching and learning.”
