Assault victim suffers fractured skull

A MAN was left with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after he was assaulted in Bicester early yesterday morning.

Thames Valley Police has appealed for witnesses after the 29-year-old was assaulted by another man in Market Square.

The victim was floored by a kick to the stomach before being punched in the head.

He was taken to the Horton Hospital in Banbury with a cut to the back of his head, but was later transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he was found to have a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

Police say he is in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent, and has been bailed until January 6.
