AN ELDERLY man was attacked by thugs near Buckingham town centre on Friday.
The man was visiting Tesco, on Market Hill, at around 4pm, when he saw two men standing outside the nearby fish and chip shop.
The two men asked him for money. He said no and walked away up Moreton Road, to a pathway that links the road with Overn Crescent.
He was attacked in the alleyway by the same people he had seen near the shops and descriptions are vague but the suspects are currently described as a black male and a white male.
The victim was searched, but nothing was stolen.
Nearby residents heard the noise of this and tended to the victim and called police.
The victim was bleeding from a facial injury but did not require hospital treatment.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to get in touch.
Inspector Emma Garside said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area of the shops on Market Hill at around 4pm last Friday to consider if they saw a black and white male talking with an older gentleman.
“At the time this may not have looked out of place but these males went on to commit a serious crime against a vulnerable person. Their actions are despicable and they need to be identified quickly.
“These individuals may be bragging to others about what they have done and we need to know about it. DC Andy Smith from Police areas priority crime team is leading the investigation and can be contacted on 08458 505505.”
