British Transport Police (BTP) said officers were called to the Bicester to Banbury railway line in Howes Lane at around 1.20pm after reports of a man being hit by a train.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said two ambulances, a BASICS doctor and an air ambulance were dispatched, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A BTP spokeswoman said: “Officers are currently working to establish the identity of the man and inform his next of kin.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
