POLICE are hunting a possible serial sex attacker in Bicester after a 20-year-old woman was assaulted near Highfield Social Club on Thursday night.
The woman was walking along George Street near the social club at 10.30pm when she was approached from behind by a man who pulled her into the nearby Bucknell Road Park.
Once inside the park, the man sexually assaulted the woman. She managed to escape to a safe place where police were called.
Det Insp Steve Duffy said: “This incident is similar to a sexual assault that occurred in Bicester on November 27 and so we are looking at the possibility that the two might be linked.
“An area around the park has been cordoned off while a search of the scene is carried out and officers are going house-to-house to speak with local residents.
“High-visibility patrols will be put in place in the town to offer reassurance to local residents and I would urge anyone with concerns or information about this incident to speak to us.”
He advised residents to avoid walking alone at night, and to let others know when they leave and arrive at their destination.
Officers searched the area, but the man was not found. He is described as white, 6ft, in his thirties and of a big build. He was wearing black clothes and a black bobble hat.
Det Insp Duffy urged anyone who may have seen the man in the George Street area to come forward.
