Police issue a warning after dog theft spate

NEIGHBOURHOOD PCSO Wendy Taylor is warning local people to think about security measures for their dogs, following a recent pate of dog thefts in Sussex.

Three female Rhodesian ridgebacks were stolen during one afternoon, and two male dogs were taken in separate incidents.

But PSCO Taylor says ridgebacks are not the only dogs at risk, with spaniels, whippets and lurchers also being popular with thieves.

Among measures to consider are micro-chipping, tattooing, padlocking and alarming kennels and CCTV.
