A TAXI driver was hit with a baseball bat and robbed in Stony Stratford on Thursday night.

The driver was dropping off two women in Buntsy Court, Galley Hill at about 11.45pm when he was set upon by a group of people who were standing around the entrance.

He was hit with a baseball bat and knocked to the floor before his mobile phone and PDA were stolen from inside the taxi.

The main offender, who was wearing a white tracksuit, is described as a 6ft white man in his mid-20s.

Det Con Greg Hughes, of Milton Keynes CID, who is investigating the incident, said: “ We are currently in the early stages in the investigation of this offence and I would urge anyone, particularly the two female passengers dropped off at Bunsty Court, to contact me.

“At this time, I do not believe this is linked to the ongoing series of robberies on taxi drivers in Milton Keynes. However, I am keeping an open mind.”

Anyone with any information should contact DC Hughes via the 24-hour police enquiry centre on 0845 8 505 505, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
