A man has been charged with four counts of assault after being arrested by police on duty near to Royal Ascot.

Richard Lightwood, 22, of Chapel Lane in Thornborough, has been charged after incidents on Friday June 19 in the High Street, Sunninghill, when a 48-year-old man, a 55-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman were assaulted.

The High Street is a short walk from where the world famous race meeting was taking place.

Lightfoot was charged the following day and has been bailed to appear at Slough Magistrates Court on July 6.

More than 62,000 people attended the fourth day of the meeting, one of the biggest in the flat racing calendar.
