AN INCREASE in rural crime has lead to a week long operation in south Northants where Towcester police officers forged greater links with then farming community.
This week officers manned surgeries and talked to farmers about crime prevention and about the Farm Watch scheme which issues warnings about near by crimes.
To publicise the focus week Thames Valley Police leant their Northants colleagues a police tractor.
Inspector Alex Terry, the district’s most senior police officer said: “The main aim of the week is to raise awareness about crime prevention and security at rural locations and farms.
“We also hope to establish contact and develop relationships with the rural and farming communities within south Northants.”
Officers will also be at the Game Fayre in Brafield on Sunday, July 3.
