VEHICLES were stopped in a crackdown on lorries breaching weight restrictions in Buckingham yesterday morning.
Police officers from the Buckingham neighbourhood team joined staff from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), the road safety team from Aylesbury Vale District Council, and roads policing officers from Milton Keynes in a five-hour operation on Buckingham’s ring road.
PC Richard Davis, of Buckingham Police Station, said members of the Buckingham Neighbourhood Action Group had identified HGVs ignoring weight limits as one of their top priories at an annual meeting in November.
He added: “We were stopping any vehicles breaching the weight restrictions in town as well as any lorries that didn’t seem to fit for the road.
“A total of 26 vehicles were dealt with for one or more faults, and 10 of those vehicles had contravened weight restrictions.”
One lorry driver in his sixties was found to be using a provisional licence.
