IF you’re over 18 and available on Monday, July 9, between 7am and noon, Buckingham Town Council wants your help with the Olympic Torch Relay.
The torch will pass through Buckingham at 10.15am and volunteers are needed to help direct pedestrians, monitor crowd movement, provide information about toilets, monitor parking in the car park and direct motorists to overspill car parks.
Marshals need to be physically fit, as they will be standing up for a long time, and be able to react quickly in case of an emergency.
All volunteers will need to attend a briefing meeting a few days before the event.
Anyone interested should call the town council on 01280 816426 before Friday, June 15.
The town council is appealing to pubs and restaurants in the town centre to open their doors to people, especially children, needing to use the toilets while they are waiting for the torch relay.
A letter will be going out to everyone in Buckingham town centre, informing them of what will be happening on the day.
