Everything stops for tea, even in Wonderland

THERE’S always time for a tea break when you are rehearsing for a production of Alice In Wonderland.

Alice, the March Hare and the White Rabbit, played by pupils at Thornton College, Milton Keynes, joined the Mad Hatter and other cast members for a party in the beautiful school grounds on Wednesday.

The cast have been rehearsing after school and at weekends since January for the sell-out show which opened yesterday and finishes today (Friday).

Lewis Carroll’s fantasy tale has been co-directed by Year 4, 5 and 6 teachers at the independent day and boarding school with all the girls from those years being involved in the production, acting, singing or working backstage.

Assistant headteacher Rose Darwin said: “I am most proud of the way the girls have conducted themselves since we started rehearsals in January. Whether they had lead roles, were in the chorus or members of the backstage crew, they have been so well motivated.

“They have smiled throughout and have thoroughly enjoyed taking part. The cast and chorus have been determined to give their best possible performance every time.”
