A class of schoolchildren had a treat when builders came to show them how to build a wall.
Bricklayers from Bellway Homes gave the demonstration at Bourton Meadow Academy, in Buckingham, last Friday.
The event was organised to coincide with the development of Buckingham’s new primary school, Lace Hill Academy, on Windsor Park, which will be run by Bourton Meadow Education Trust.
It was also designed to give the Year 2 youngsters an insight into all aspects of building and construction, to help them with a Grand Designs topic they are doing next term, which will result in them building their own structures.
Bellway Homes sales manager, Lindsey Davenport, said: “The arrival of the new primary school in the town has been muchanticipated, and we were delighted to be able to give the children an idea as to what is involved in building.
“We all had a great afternoon, and the children found it all very interesting and asked some fabulous questions.”
Executive headteacher for Bourton Meadow Education Trust, Martyn Kitson, said: “It is always wonderful when children are working on a topic for them to have some practical experience.
“The demonstration by Bellway tied in wonderfully well with next term’s topic, and of course has added to the excitement of the development of Lace Hill Academy.”
