PRIMARY school children are well prepared to be future as board members and politicians after receiving an award of their school council.
Last month members of Bracken Leas Primary school council received a bronze award from Northants County Council. Representatives from each year group form the 14 strong council which has a chairman and treasurer and is run in same way as a local authority committee or board of directors.
Deputy head teacher Jan Lay said: “The award was given for the way the school council gives children a voice within the school. The main thing is their ideas are valued and often they have good ideas because they are looking at it from a child’s perspective.”
The council recently voted to take part in a walk to school initiative.
