CHILDREN at a primary in Brackley spelled out the phrase ‘be safe, be seen’ in their field last week as part of walk to school week.
Colin Gynn, headteacher at Bracken Leas school said 90 per cent of children gave up their usual lift in to school and dressed up in bright clothing for the journey.
Mr Gynn said: “It was the culmination of walk to school week, and everyone was encouraged to walk. We even had permission from the Chequered Flag pub to use their car park so those who lived too far away to walk could park away from the school and walk the rest of the way.”
As part of the initiative two trophies were handed out to the classes which had the highest percentage of walkers. Mr Gynn added: “The Golden Shoe trophy now proudly sits in their classroom.”
