Elderly woman had bank card stolen when asked for directions in Brackley

An elderly woman had her bank card stolen by a couple who distracted her by asking for directions.

The woman was stopped in Westhill Avenue, Brackley, just after 3pm on Thursday, October 22, by a man and a woman.

The woman asked her to write directions in a notepad while the man stole her bank card.

The card was used later the same day in Banbury and a large amount of money was taken from the elderly woman’s account.

The woman was in her late 20s to early 40s, white and slim with long dark hair. She spoke in broken English.

The man was white with receding light coloured hair and an average build.

It is believed they may have been connected to another man who helped the elderly woman to pack her shopping in Waitrose shortly before her card was stolen.

Witnesses, or anyone who knows anything about this incident, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101.

Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
