Entrepreneur sees urgent need for parenting classes

A Buckingham woman who brought the calm childbirth method hypnobirthing to the area, has now added parenting classes to her repertoire.

Former Royal Latin School student Kirsty Turner, aged 36, introduced hypnobirthing to Buckingham two years ago, having taught in London and Milton Keynes for the previous five years.

The calm birthing method is being used by a growing number of celebrities and Mrs Turner counts among her clients Luissa Zissman, The Apprentice runner-up and recent member of the Celebrity Big Brother house, whose glowing testimonial can be seen on Mrs Turner’s website at www.fertilefuture.co.uk
Now mother of three Mrs Turner has brought a new type of parenting class to Buckingham after parents told her there was a lack of classes on offer and they felt unprepared in how to actually care for their baby.

She has now been trained by Parentskool, an award-winning parentcraft social enterprise that runs antenatal classes for first-time parents. See www.parentskool.co.uk
She is running her first parenting course for couples from her Nelson Street home in mid-March, comprising two-hour evening sessions once a week for four weeks.

Mrs Turner is looking for a suitable venue where she can offer larger classes. And she hopes eventually to be able to offer a free course for couples who cannot afford to pay.

She said: “Because Parentskool is a social enterprise, we have social and moral obligations to put back into the community. I passionately believe parents in this area and everywhere should feel supported and informed about their parenting choices.”
