It all started in a music room at The Buckingham School for Bevan Hill, Joe Fuller, Nathan McPartlan, all 17, and Will Griffiths, 16.

And after winning Bucks Battle of the Bands, they’ve attracted the attention of a producer who has worked with McFly and Nothing But Thieves.

White Elephant are made up of Buckingham boys Bevan (lead guitarist), drummer Joe, front-man Nathan and bass player Will, who lives in Winslow.

But if it wasn’t for a random jam session at school in Year 9, the indie rock group may never have been formed.

They began writing their own stuff and after winning the competition last month, they will soon record their single - Aloha - in the studio.

One of the judges, music producer Julian Emery, has taken the boys under his wing. He is best known for his work with McFly.

But Nathan, who lives on Badgers in Buckingham with mum Hisana, dad Ian, and sister Naomi, has his feet firmly on the ground.

“We love music, so we’re not concerned how far it takes us. We just want to evolve as a band and venture outside of Buckingham. We’re recording our EP and let’s see where that takes us.”

Nathan, who is in Year 12 at the Royal Latin School, is also captain of Winslow United.

But he ranks the competition win, at The Wycombe Swan, amongst his best achievements to date.

They performed covers of tracks by Foals and Peace, but then played their trump card in the final three.

He said: “We were a bit nervous about the covers because the judges were interested in our own song.

“But we knew if we pulled them off, we would blow them away with our own song. It was a big surprise – a nice surprise.”

White Elephant are performing at Frogfest on May 29.
