Firefighters battle blaze in hollow tree

TREE FIRE: An ash tree on fire kept Buckingham firefighters busy last Friday night.

The fire crew was called out to the fire in a hollow tree on Akeley Road, Lillingstone Lovell, at 7pm,

Watch manager Howes from Buckingham Fire Station told the Advertiser: “It was quite a protracted job. The fire was deep-seated and it had gone up inside the tree, which was infested with termites. We used compressed air foam but trees are very difficult to put out and we didn’t return to the station till 10.30pm.

“We then had to follow up with two re-inspections and the incident was finally closed at 7.30am on Saturday.”
