BUCKINGHAM Ladies went top of the table with a mightily impressive performance against Staines that saw them cruise to a dominant 5-0 win.

In front of a large crowd, Staines enjoyed the early possession but they were unable to capitalise as Buckingham opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a fantastic reverse stick strike from Fiona Farley.

The home side could have been further ahead at the break had it not been for some fine saves by the visiting goalkeeper, which included a well saved penalty stroke from Ellie Cockburn.

Buckingham went through the gears after half time and took their chances to record a comfortable victory.

Jess Bloom deflected home a well-worked penalty corner before captain Katrina Nicholson made it 3-0.

Bloom continued her goal-scoring form by netting a fourth while a Player of the Match performance from Zoe Shipperley was capped off when she smashed home late on.

Buckingham now face three tough weeks in a row, starting with a trip to fourth-placed Gloucesteron Saturday.
