A litter bug who was fined £75 for dumping building material in woods has blamed his mate at the pub for giving him bad advice.
An addressed letter among the plaster, dumped at Wicken Woods between Deanshanger and Lillingstone Lovell, meant South Northants Council (SNC) could track the unnamed Buckingham man down.
When questioned, he admitted dumping the waste but said he did it because his friend at the pub told him he could not throw it away at the waste and recycling centre.
He was issued with a £75 Fixed Penalty Notice and ordered to pay the costs of clearing the site.
Andrew Grant, SNC’s deputy leader and portfolio holder for environment, said: “Trusting someone in a pub can be a risky business and this gentleman lost the gamble.
“We live in a beautiful rural area and we will not hesitate in taking action against those who threaten to pollute it with waste that can easily disposed of properly.”
