Around 90 per cent of Aylesbury Vale food premises have a four or five star hygiene rating

AVDC is encouraging people looking for somewhere to eat this summer to look no further than the Vale.

The district council is responsible for carrying out the inspections of food businesses, checking that they meet all requirements as set out in food hygiene law.

They then give them ratings based on their findings, which is rated on a scale of ‘0’ to ‘5’ – with ‘5’ meaning the standards are very good.

In the Vale 158 out of 187 pubs and bars are rated four or five stars, while 162 out of 199 restaurants, cafes and canteens are rated just as highly.

Fifty-two out of 78 takeaways are also topping the chart.

Where business don’t meet the required food hygiene standards, AVDC’s officers work alongside them to ensure an improvement in their standards.
