There is to be a new Saints in the Community programme for the elderly and those with learning disabilities and mental health issues thanks to a football club.
Brackley Town Football Club said it was planning a monthly themed event to bring people together through activities and interaction.
The aim is to support people who may feel isolated and to build a friendship network.
The programme is being funded by a grant from the Football Conference Trust, a partnership between the Trust, the Premier League and the Professional Footballers’ Association.
The League and PFA are committed to supporting the Trust until 2017, and have each contributed £5.2 million.
Brackley Town MD Jan Butters said: “This project would not be possible without their generous donation.
“Our club is ideally located to provide the venue for these monthly events.”
A successful taster has already been held and next on the agenda is ‘Back to the 1940s’ – planned for October 14.
Weekly coffee mornings, which include a lunch club, started on Wednesday.
