A FORMER Royal Marines Commando from Brackley will run a marathon in Majorca raising money in the memory of fallen comrades.
Gavyn Palmer served in Afghanistan for seven months in 2006/7, and although no one from his company died a close friends from training was killed and he was the coffin bearer for a second.
On Sunday, December 11, he will be run the marathon to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
He said during a conflict training plays a key role by allowing them to put aside their emotions, but once the action has stopped soldiers have time to reflect on lost comrades.
He added: “One minute you’re playing football, being one of the lads, then two weeks later one of you is not there anymore.”
