FORMULA Renault racer Anton Spires helped Bicester’s Tesco store raise £75 for the supermarket’s chosen charity, Cancer Research UK on Saturday.
Spires, from Buckingham, was at the store with his race car and more than 100 children enjoyed sitting in the car and having their photograph taken.
Spires is backed by AA DriveTech and in return works as a road safety ambassador.
He is also backed by Booost Oxygen and spent time talking to parents and young children about road safety and offered encouragement for children to become involved in motorsport.
Following a successful debut in the Formula Renault BARC series last October Spires was short of funding to contest the series at the beginning of this year but has achieved four podiums in six races in the Monoposto series.
Chris Webb, store manager, said: “Thank you Anton for supporting the Tesco chosen charity of the year, raising £75 today, which is really appreciated. I wish Anton good luck in his motor racing career.”
Chris is looking to organise a karting team building event for his staff to race against Anton.
