Winslow’s Royal British Legion raised about £3,000 for the Milton Keynes & North Bucks branch of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association by hosting a charity day on Saturday.
Nearly half of the total was raised by three brave Winslow men – Ryan Freshwater, Matthew Spencer and Nathan Lambourne – who underwent a sponsored head shave. There was also a raffle with prizes kindly donated by businesses in Winslow and Buckingham.
The event was organised by RBL manager Claire Lee, after Winslow resident Alan Maher, aged 36, was diagnosed with the muscle-wasting disease MND in August.
Alan said: “The association have helped us in so many ways, we wanted to raise money so other people can get the help I have.”
