DESIGNS for a new Bicester hospital with high-tech facilities including operating theatres are due to be revealed early next month.
Developer Arkanum hopes to build the hospital on a seven-acre site in the new Kingsmere estate, which already has planning permission.
Spokesman John Lucken said: “The growing size and importance of Bicester merits a full-scale community hospital, adding to patient choice and reducing the necessity to travel long distances for treatments that can be provided closer to home.”
The hospital would bid for NHS services once the new GP commissioning system is introduced. Outline plans will be presented to Cherwell District Council (CDC) early next month, and detailed plans are due to be published shortly afterwards.
CDC member for Bicester East, Councillor Les Sibley, said the project would offer: “...a new green hospital with state-of-the-art facilities and services that will go a long way in meeting the future health needs of our local community.”
