Buckingham magician and illusionist Ollie Collins is excited to be performing his large illusion show for the first time in his home town next month.
Mr Collins, who grew up on Badgers and attended the Buckingham School, will be performing his live magic act at the Villiers Christmas parties on December 12 and 19 in the Old Town Hall ballroom.
Mr Collins has been working away from home as an entertainer since the age of 18, including stints as a Butlins Redcoat and a Pontins Bluecoat as well as working on cruise ships and ferries.
He has also performed as some of children’s most well-loved characters in theatres all over the world, including Barney the dinosaur in the UK and European tours and has recently finished working as Big Bird and Oscar the grouch in the Sesame Street live world tour.
Now turning 30, Mr Collins has now returned to his roots, settling down in Linden Village, just round the corner from his parents, with his partner Clare McGrath and son Joshua, who is nearly two.
Mr Collins told the Advertiser: “Myself and Clare met on cruise ships while I was working on board and we decided we wanted to come home and settle down a bit.”
His new touring illusion show already has 30 dates booked all over the country in 2014, from Scotland to Newquay.
He said: “We’ve got an illusion that’s been made for us and it’s quite unique. I get put inside the box and compressed to about 1ft in size. It’s quite clever. It’s the only one of its kind that’s touring.”
“Not often would I put on my large illusion show in Buckingham. As a stage show, goes, it’s quite unique and it’s good to bring it home.
“It’s the first time we’re actually performing here in my home town.
“It’s exciting to be back and doing it all. All my mates and my family are going be there.”
