About 10 homes in Market Hill, Buckingham, lost power between 10pm last night, Wednesday, and 6am this morning, as Western Power Distribution carried out emergency repairs to an underground cable.

Firefighters had previously been called out to reports of a smell of burning, which was believed to be coming from underground cabling.

A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: “We are sorry to anyone who may have been inconvenienced but in the interests of safety we had to replace a section of cable.

“We might have to come back a bit later on this evening to make final repairs and ensure everything is as it should be.
