Hope as library finds team of Friends

HOPES of retaining a public library in Winslow have received a boost with the formation of a group dedicated to explore all the options for retaining the service.

At the second public meeting about the potential closure of the library, a number of people indicated they would be prepared to be involved in a management team if a takeover by the community became the only way forward.

The group met last Thursday, with members agreeing to form the Friends Of Winslow Library.

Local resident Guy Hawking will chair the group, which includes a wide range of talents including those of local historian and retired librarian Julian Hunt. The group will now take over discussions with the county council which were started by the town council.

Anyone wishing to be involved in any way should contact Nick Abraham on 01296 713037.
