A grand total of 655 children attended this year’s National Play Day, organised by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC), in Brackley last week.
Those attending got creative making masks and joined in with fun and games all before tackling the giant inflatable obstacle course and the seven metre tall climbing wall.
The popular event was one of 600 similar free play days taking place across the UK.
Councillor Rosie Herring, portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing, said: “I attended the event and it was really great to see so many children of all ages playing outside in their local community. The day had a real family atmosphere with people playing games and sharing picnics and just getting together and having fun.”
The event was also supported by local community organisations including the police, Surestart, National Association of Youth Clubs and South Northants Leisure Trust.
SNC currently employees two play rangers who are helping run play activities across the district this year.
