There has been a final call for free insulation across Cherwell as grants provided by energy suppliers begin to dry up.
Cherwell District Council continues to work with the United Sustainable Energy Agency to make loft and cavity wall insulation available with no charge.
Anyone wanting to get the work done without financial help could expect to pay a combined cost of £700 for the work which will likely save them more than £300 in fuel per year.
However until Sunday, September 30, all homeowners can get both free cavity wall and loft insulation, regardless of pre-existing levels in the loft, at no charge.
Debbie Pickford, CDC’s lead member for housing, said: “Time is running out and I’d urge people not to put this off any longer.
“The Government is set to introduce the Green Deal which will offer loans for insulation but they will have to be paid back.
“Yet with the current scheme, homeowners can get a free, no commitment survey and if they qualify, will pay absolutely nothing.
“I would urge people to pass this message on to anyone they know who might benefit. There seriously is nothing to lose.”
Those seeking a free survey before the end of September will be in time for the work to be completed. Anyone enquiring after that time might be too late. For more details visit www.cocoonyourhome.co.uk or call 0800 8048777.
