IF you enjoy a rompingly good piece of old-fashioned theatre, with superb delivery and spot-on timing, brought to you by a cast of top-notch professionals who look as if they’re having just as good a time as the audience... don’t miss Dandy Dick at Aylesbury’s Waterside theatre.

This production of Theatre Royal Brighton Productions is on tour to Aylesbury tonight and tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

This is the first major revival Pinero’s comedy for 40 years, and the production brings to town Olivier Award-winning actress Patricia Hodge and distinguished stage actor and Oliver Award nominee Nicholas Le Prevost.

Dandy Dick tells the of the Very Reverend Augustin Jedd, a pillar of Victorian respectability, who preaches against the evils of the Turf.

But a visit from his tearaway sister, a devotee of the races, leads him against his better judgement to risk all on her horse, Dandy Dick.

Mayhem ensues, with mistaken identity, romance and comic absurdity galore.

Following his huge success with The Madness of George III in the West End, Christopher Luscombe directs a solid-gold cast of comic actors who had the Waterside audience eating out of their hands almost from the start.

You knew you were in the hands of experts, as they slyly delivered their asides, and the delivery and timing were superb in this rompingly enjoyable show.

Add in surprise moments of music and song, beautifully delivered by members of the cast during scene change pauses, and you have a night of shamelessly good old-fashioned theatre fun - just what the doctor ordered!
