A former WinslowUnited player has landed a role in the popular Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks.
Actor Ayden Callaghan, aged 31, known locally as Joe, grew up in Winslow, attending Great Horwood School and the Buckingham School.
He played centre forward for Winslow United between the ages of about 14 and 19.
His father, Patrick, and brother, Nick, aged 29, are still involved in the club.
His mother, Wendy, and sister, Kathryn, aged 15, also still live in Winslow.
This is the second venture into soaps for Mr Callaghan, who trained at Guildford School of Acting, after a spell in Emmerdale five years ago.
In Hollyoaks, he plays Joe Roscoe, the eldest of five sons in a close-knit Cockney family, with TV star Gillian Taylforth as their mum.
He said: “It’s a great character, I’m really chuffed. He’s the alpha male, there’s no nonsense with him at all. He’s a guy who’s full of love and passion but there is another side to him. There is a dark past there that he’s trying to subdue.”
Mr Callaghan has been filming for the show since March. His first episode was screened yesterday, Thursday. Follow him on Twitter @aydencallaghan
