A FIRE in a lorry on the hard shoulder closed all three lanes of the M40 between Banbury and Gaydon in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Fire crews from Banbury and Warwickshire were able to prevent the fire spreading to the verge and standing crops after they were called out at 3.30am.

Thames Valley Police is investigating the cause of the fire.
