Make sure you help decide new police chief
On May 5, residents of Aylesbury Vale will have the opportunity to vote for a Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley.
The PCC is responsible for holding the Chief Constable and local police force to account on the public’s behalf.
He or she will also help to decide where Thames Valley Police’s budget should be spent during the next four years.
Residents of the Vale will need to ensure that they are on the electoral register in order to vote in the election. If they are not currently registered, they can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
Registration is quick and easy, and must be completed before the deadline of Monday 18 April.
Following registration, there will be a number of different ways to vote in the PCC election:
Postal voting - ideal for older people and commuters; the deadline to apply is 5pm on 19 April.
Proxy voting - useful for people who have limited mobility or those who may be on holiday on polling day; the deadline to apply is 5pm on 26 April.
Voting in person - can be completed at local polling stations; suitable for any eligible resident of Aylesbury Vale, provided registration has been completed before 18 April.
