A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after he was struck over the head with a wooden object during a gang fight.

A fight broke out between two groups and the 40-year-old from Bicester was hit with a piece of wood or a baseball bat and left unconscious.

It happened around 2.30am on Saturday morning as he walked from the White Hart pub in Sheep Street, Bicester, to a kebab shop in Chapel Street.

Three men from Bicester, aged 23, 25 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of GBH and have all been bailed until April 7.

Two others, a 21-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were injured and had to be treated by paramedics.

But the man who suffered serious head injuries remains at John Radcliffe Hospital.

Detective constable Grahame Lea would urgently like to speak to any witnesses to the incident.

He said: “Whether they noticed a row in the White Hart or witnessed the assault which left one man with serious head injuries we want to hear from them.”

Anyone with information, should call Det Con Lea on 101.
