Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton and his team-mate Nico Rosberg are set to duck out of a celebratory event in Brackley town centre.
The Mercedes team are celebrating after a clean-sweep season saw them bag the constructors’ title and the drivers’ championship.
A celebratory parade has been in the pipeline since the Brackley-based team lifted the constructors’ trophy but the scale of the event has remained a mystery.
A spokesman for South Northants Council confirmed an event will take place in Brackley on Tuesday, December 2 but neither Hamilton or Rosberg will be present.
However, mayor of Brackley Elaine Wiltshire is looking forward to the event and thinks the triumphant team may even spring a surprise.
She said: “It’s a bit disappointing – I’d have thought one of them might be there.
“Or maybe someone will turn up? You never know. I think it’s a watch this space kind of thing.”
More on this when we get it.
