We are all a bit forgetful sometimes, but it’s fairly rare to leave your dog behind at a hotel!
Dancer was staying with her family at the Travelodge in Towcester when they left him behind at check out.
Staff were quick to alert the red-faced owners who quickly returned for their pet, but the incident has made it onto a national list of bizarre items left behind at the hotel chain.
Jane Tidbury, hotel manager for Towcester Silverstone Travelodge said: “Some of the things that guests leave behind are incredible and we’ve had everything from clogs through to an engraved pocket watch and even a pet Pug.
“It isn’t long before people usually realise what they have done, and I’m happy to say that we normally return items to their owners very quickly.”
Dancer’s mishap wasn’t the only Towcester entry on to the list, which was published by Travelodge this week.
A best man’s speech, an important business presentation and expensive hospitality tickets to Towcester racecourse and a pair of authentic clogs were also left in rooms by hapless customers.
Shakila Ahmed, of Travelodge, said: “Our 2014 left behind register also revealed how much smart technology has become a part of our everyday lives, as we have had 12,000 tablets and smartphones left behind in our hotels in the last 12 months. This is a significant increase from previous years.
“What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”
