A mother has admitted she was responsible for the death of her four-month-old son after he suffered fatal head injuries.

Eloise Burton-Cope, 33, pleaded not guilty to murdering her son Leon but pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of lack of intent.

The mum, who now lives in Milton Keynes and is married with an older daughter, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Monday.

The court heard how she had suffered from severe postnatal depression.

She was released on bail and will be sentenced in September.

It was first understood the fatal injuries were caused by a tragic accident at a Deanshanger home.

The baby was admitted to Milton Keynes Hospital with head injuries on March 29 last year.

He was transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but died two days later.
