North Oxon MP Victoria Prentis visited Bicester’s Health and Wellbeing Centre, to see first hand how the centre is used by people of all ages and abilities as a place of rehabilitation and for socialising.
Mrs Prentis was given a personal tour of the facility and met many of the volunteers and services users.
Oxon County Council is consulting on a number of proposals as it aims to make significant savings in its budget, and many people have raised concerns over the potential closure of the Ccentre, described by one user as ‘a lifeline’.
Mrs Prentis, who has also met with leader of the council Ian Hudspeth to discuss the matter, said: “The centre offers a number of vital support services to the local community.
“It provides those who are most vulnerable with a source of companionship and practical support.
“I was blown away by the enthusiasm and commitment of those who work and volunteer at the centre.
“I am proud to have such a place in my constituency.”
