The three winners of a Winslow poster competition were presented with specially designed mugs at a service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s 90th birthday on Sunday.
Fourteen Winslow 90-year-olds were given engraved paperweights and all the children in Winslow received certificates.
The service was part of a weekend of celebrations for the Queen’s birthday in Winslow, delivered free of charge thanks to generous local sponsorship.
Several hundred people, especially young families, attended Music in the Park on Saturday evening, with live music from Winslow Concert Band, Paul French and the Winslow Players, as well as children’s activities, a barbecue, Pimm’s and 90 rockets as the finale.
Winslow Community Library is hosting an interesting exhibition of photographs of past royal local celebrations for the whole of June.
Thanks to generous local sponsorship, we were able to deliver the weekend free to all, and hope to have a little surplus for local charities.
