The hunt will soon be on to find Buckingham’s top trader.
The Buckingham Society about to launch a new Buckingham Trader of the Year award.
The Buckingham Society exists to promote the distinctive character of the town, celebrate and safeguard Buckingham’s heritage and improve the quality of life in the community.
In a venture supported by Buckingham Traders Association, AVDC and Bucks County Council, the society will be asking the people of Buckingham to nominate and vote for their favourite local trader.
The new award will go to a trader who the people of Buckingham think represents all that’s good about the town and its shops.
Local people will be asked to nominate their favourite trader based on criteria such as friendliness, quality of service, excellence of window display and the variety and quality of goods sold.
The Buckingham Society will be seeking nominations from early in September, with voting to take place throughout October.
The award to the winning trader will be presented at the end of October.
There will be a shield for the winner, which they will be able to display on their premises for a year, as well as prizes for runners-up.
Spokesman Roger Edwards said: “The Buckingham Society believes firmly that there are many excellent and committed traders in the town whose quality deserves to be recognised.
“It is hoped that lots of people will take the time to nominate and vote for their favourite traders and help to celebrate their contribution to our lovely market town.”
