A new community bus for north west Buckinghamshire has been launched by High Sheriff of Bucks Millie Soames, who is herself a volunteer driver for Waddesdon Manor’s buses.

The Bernwode Community Bus, supported by £13,000 from the Waddesdon Local Area Forum (LAF), will serve outlying villages to take older people to clubs and events.

LAF chairman Paul Irwin, who led the campaign for a bus, said one of the LAF’s priorities was to strengthen community transport.

The Bernwode Bus – using a former Winslow Community Bus vehicle – is now recruiting volunteer drivers.

The aim is to have the bus up and running by September 1.
